Hello! My name is Ava Lucius and I am the owner of AvaCakes. I am 19 years old and am attending Heidelberg University for my Early Childhood Education Degree. I have been baking for as long as I can remember! I began by watching my Grandma make birthday cakes for me and my cousins year after year. Sometimes she would even let me put the sprinkles on! By the time I was 8 my mom had me in 4-H and naturally I chose to take a cake decorating project. After that year I was hooked! I took that project for 7 years and grew in my skill every year. I began selling my cakes and cupcakes in 2018 when I was 12. Although I will even admit I wasn’t ready I am so glad I got my start there! I have so much gratitude for all of the family members and friends that trusted little 12 year old me to make cakes and cupcakes for their events! Moving to today, I have about 10 years of experience cake decorating and still find myself growing in my skill with every order! I have made thousands of custom cupcakes, hundreds of custom cakes, and hundreds of dozens of custom cookies among other things! I’ve hosted multiple cupcake decorating workshops for kids and have helped so many girls get started in the cake decorating project in 4-H. This business is truly a product of my love for what I do and I am so excited to share this with you.
